KOLAB stands out as a unique initiative, spearheaded by IPRS, the sole music copyright society representing authors, composers, and publishers of music in India. This initiative marks a milestone for IPRS as we launch a new and distinctive IP, where two culturally rich nations—India and South Korea—joined forces to create something truly special. The collaboration between IPRS (The Indian Performing Right Society Ltd.) and KOMCA (Korean Music Copyright Association) gave birth to the Indo-Korean Songwriting Programme, a first-of-its-kind partnership between two prominent music copyright societies.

Soundscapes of India – Gateway to the World is more than just an event; it’s a celebration of Indian music’s global journey and its future potential. Launched on the occasion of the 55th Anniversary of the Indian Performing Right Society (IPRS), this initiative is set to position India as a key player on the world music stage. Soundscapes of India aims is to create a bridge between India’s rich musical heritage and the global music industry. It strives to provide a platform where Indian music creators can showcase their talents to an international audience, engage in meaningful cultural exchanges, and explore collaborations that can elevate their work to new heights.

The IPRS Stage is more than just a platform—it’s a mission to discover, promote, and celebrate the creators and creativity shaping the future of music. It aims to serve as a beacon for hidden talent, emerging creators and independent artists, a showcase for creative excellence, and a space where diverse musical journeys converge. This stage is dedicated to music discovery, shining a spotlight on the music and artists who deserve to be heard. This vibrant platform promises to discover and promote emerging creators, regional artists, and hidden talents from across India, while celebrating the country’s rich cultural heritage.

One of our key initiatives is the pan-India knowledge program called "Learn and Earn," which is designed to help our members stay up-to-date with the requirements of being a modern day music maker. These workshops are led by experienced IPRS members, subject experts, and veterans from the music industry, and cover a wide range of topics, including members' rights, the role of CMOs like IPRS, and the latest technology and trends shaping music careers. By participating in these engaging training sessions, our members can unlock new opportunities and pave the way for a thriving future for themselves and the Indian music industry as a whole.

An awareness campaign to promote Fair Play and Fair Pay of Music Fair play and fair pay are essential components of a thriving and sustainable music industry. The impact of fair compensation for music makers cannot be overstated, as it not only supports their livelihood but also encourages them to continue creating the music that we all love and enjoy. IPRS has made it an ongoing mission to spread awareness and promote a culture of licensed music consumption through our Fair Play and Fair Pay of Music campaign. Through this initiative, IPRS is educating music users on the different licensing needs and kinds of music licenses available. It also highlights the benefits of music licensing and the ease of procurement through copyright society like IPRS.

An initiative to acknowledge and credit those behind the timeless creations Credit the creators is the IPRS corrective measure to ensure that those behind the creation of the melodies we so adore are duly acknowledged and credited for their creation. The fact that several music composers and songwriters, in spite of their iconic creations, were denied the creators credit and, in many cases, also the financial compensation due to them, IPRS, staying true to its core philosophy of being a true supporter of the authors and composers, thought it imperative to take up this issue of great consequence for the comprehensive welfare of such talented artists. “Credit the Creators” is the IPRS effort to illuminate the true contribution of these creators.

The "HerMusic" initiative by IPRS aims to encourage and enhance the representation of women in the music industry. We believe in equal opportunities for everyone and are proud to have a diverse community that includes many talented women in music. The program began on International Women's Day 2021 and was categorized under three heads: Unleash HerMusic, Empower HerMusic, and Celebrate HerMusic. Through this initiative, we want to promote the participation of women in music creation by identifying probable barriers and creating opportunities to nurture talent. We believe our efforts in this domain is a crucial step towards a more inclusive, diverse, and vibrant music industry.

In its ongoing mission to promote awareness about intellectual property rights and equip music creators with vital knowledge about the music business and publishing, IPRS launched a transformative initiative, 'My Music My Rights.' Representing authors, composers, and publishers of music, IPRS aims to empower creators and foster a stronger understanding of their rights and opportunities in today’s dynamic music industry. For far too long, many brilliant composers and lyricists have remained hidden in the shadows, even as their creations have garnered widespread admiration and acclaim. IPRS’s mission has always been to bring these creators to the forefront, acknowledging their talent and dedication in crafting musical masterpieces that have become an integral part of our lives. Continuing the #CreditTheCreators initiative we celebrated IPRS Antakshari on World Music Day 2022. This was designed to bring attention to the often-overlooked lyricists and composers behind the music that brings joy to people’s lives.

In the wake of the current pandemic, many sectors and industries have been adversely impacted resulting in widespread uncertainties. There were growing concerns over livelihood and people were looking for direction and support to survive the economic downturn. The importance of being represented as a community whichever be the sector is felt now more than ever. Content creation had witnessed an unprecedented surge, the music industry was thriving with an explosion of talent and creativity. Unfortunately, the global pandemic plunged the entire music fraternity into a state of uncertainty.

Social media and digital platforms offer incredible opportunities for artists, but we understand that navigating the complexities of music copyright and promotion can be overwhelming. Songwriters, publishers, and music creators often face confusion when it comes to sharing their music on social media channels. From understanding how to include their music in stickers to dealing with content blocks, acquiring all the necessary rights, and tackling unauthorized use of their work, the road to success can seem unclear.

We offer our members a range of programs and initiatives designed to empower them with the knowledge and know-how to hone their creative skills. One such program is the "IPRS Creative Shala," an intensive digital series that provides insights into the creative process of maestros and their opinions on important matters related to music. The series is led by active music professionals and versatile creators, featuring jamming sessions, candid conversations with leading creators and music maestroes. Season 1 of the "Creative Shala" received an unprecedented response, with budding music creators and IPRS members benefitting greatly from the interactions, gaining valuable insights.
