The widespread use and easy accessibility of music have made it increasingly important for music creators to understand the scope of Intellectual Property Rights (IP) and its role in protecting the rights of authors, composers, and the owners of musical works.
As a Music Copyright society, we recognize the significance of safeguarding the rights of music creators and ensuring that Music Makers can reap the benefits of their hard work and creativity. On the occasion of World Intellectual Property Day on April 26th to promote an understanding of intellectual property rights among music creators and celebrate the contributions of women creators, we organized two live events:
Understanding IP & Managing Rights as a Creator:
In this session, we delved into the importance of copyright in music and provided valuable insights on how music creators, publishers, and independent artists can effectively manage their rights. The workshop aimed to equip music makers with the resources and knowledge they need to succeed in their creative journey and protect their intellectual property. Attendees had the opportunity to delve into the intricacies of managing intellectual property rights, gaining valuable insights on how to protect and monetize their work effectively.
Music Roundtable – Celebrating Her Music
WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) set a compelling theme that inspired us at IPRS to align our campaign with its vision. The theme “Women and IP: Innovation, Creativity, and Empowerment”.
We wholeheartedly embraced WIPO’s theme, because it beautifully aligned with our mission at IPRS as we are committed to supporting and empowering all music creators, and this theme resonated strongly with our dedication to identifying and promoting female creators in the industry. We brought to light the significant contributions of women in the field of intellectual property, emphasizing the need for gender equality in innovation and creativity. It echoed our belief that every creator, regardless of gender, should have equal opportunities to thrive and succeed in the industry.
During this enlightening roundtable discussion, the female creators of the IPRS’s Regional Committees from across the country shared their insights on the IP scenario in their regions. They also discussed strategies to support and educate the next generation of women creators in the music industry.
The Music Roundtable with women creators was a true testament to the power of diversity and inclusion in the music industry. The event aimed to inspire the next generation of women creators to make their mark fearlessly and highlight the significant role women can play in shaping the future of music. We will continue to spearhead initiatives aimed at identifying, empowering, and celebrating women in the music industry. Top of Form
