With Rhythm running through his veins Siddharth Nagarajan’s scintillating journey on the drum is stuff of legends. From being declared as an inborn genius by National Geographic at the age of 7; to winning plaudits for his performance from President A.P.J Abdul Kalam when in his teens; Siddharth is also in the Guinness book as the fastest drummer in the world.

Being on stage and collaborating with legends like Ilaiya Raja, Vidysagar, Santosh Narayanan, Yuvan Shankar, Hesham Abdul, Louis Banks, Viku Vinayakram, Shankar Mahadevan, Annirudh, Sri Sivamani, Sri Selvaganesh from his early years, Siddharth has composed music independently and is a part of the band “Thinak Dhin”.

ECHOES OF INDIAN MUSIC

Introduction:

As the name suggests “Echoes of Indian Music” is about the resonating musical fabric of India. It is about the various musical genres, styles and melodies, native to the Indian subcontinent but having little traction even within the other parts of India. Bringing into focus this multicolored music culture and its rightful appreciation, to the people is a moral obligation of sorts and much needed. Our monthly magazine Khanak is all set to feature write-ups under the “Echoes of India” banner to promote this initiative. While we as a culture have always been receptive to various musical influences even from outside India it is ironical that few Indians have an inkling of the music that shapes us, often at a deep level. There is that strange apathy around that has thwarted the growth and spread of music within the country.

Setting the stage: How IPRS sets the ball rolling for young music talents

As always, the IPRS in its endeavor to proactively seek look-ins for their members conceived a golden opportunity tying up with the prestigious Serendipity Art festival (16th-20th December) in Goa.
Carving out a platform for budding music talents aptly titled IPRS Stage the overwhelming response for the show was palpable. IPRS this time brought to centerstage the dawning musical talent in the country. In their elements, given the occasion, the artists went on to win plaudits for their charismatic gigs all through.
Ushering in the most influential festival audiences, organizers and talent scouts, while readily shaping possible collaboration windows with other musical mavens, the event was a big draw with positive tidings for a slew of budding musicians who might have encountered their first tryst with fame.
