Rumpa Banerjee is a media professional with over 25 years of experience in the media and entertainment industry. In her current role as the Head of Marketing, Communication, and Member Relations at IPRS, she has been instrumental in driving member outreach and development programs, significantly expanding IPRS’s footprint across India. Rumpa is dedicated to identifying potential talent and creating new opportunities for music creators and independent artists, providing them with the support and know-how they need to thrive.
Rumpa's extensive experience includes campaigns focused on building awareness, driving knowledge and know-how, and advocating for fair compensation and equitable practices in the music industry. She has spearheaded nationwide music workshops such as "My Music My Rights," and initiatives aimed at nurturing and promoting talent while building strong communities. In her role at IPRS, she launched Soundscapes of India – Gateway to the World & KOLAB – international song camp , aimed at fostering cross-border cultural exchange and create global opportunities for Indian creators. Her recent initiative, IPRS Stage, is dedicated to celebrating the diversity of Indian music by providing a platform for undiscovered talent and showcasing music from across the country. Under her guidance, IPRS has made significant strides in enhancing female representation in music industry through the HER MUSIC initiative.
She has represented the Indian creator community at global conferences and played a pivotal role in organizing the APMA Creators Conference to India. Domestically, she has been working with industry stakeholders to raise awareness about music copyright, publishing, and licensing, underscore the role of copyright societies, and drive initiatives towards building an sustainable ecosystem for music and its creators.
In her role at IPRS, Rumpa has been pivotal in building a new brand image for the organization. She has effectively driven conversations across various platforms on issues that are shaping the future of music and its creators. Her strategic communication efforts have enhanced IPRS’s visibility and engagement, fostering a stronger community of music makers.
