International Music Creators Seminar 2023 spurs collaborations, advocacy, and visionary discourse

 

IPRS orchestrated the International Music Creators Seminar on behalf of CISAC and the Asia Pacific Music Creators Alliance (APMA) on December 5th, 2023, in Mumbai. The event witnessed insightful discussions that illuminated the opportunities and challenges facing the music industry, emphasizing the importance of cross-border partnerships. The turnout exceeded 100 music creators from India and abroad, including industry executives, policymakers, and music enthusiasts.

IPRS inks MOU with KOMCA to boost music copyright awareness and cross-border creativity

 

The two societies signed an MOU, whereby KOMCA and IPRS join hands to spearhead initiatives that aim to enhance awareness, knowledge, and collaboration in the field of copyright, music creation and collective management for music creators.

The music publishing industry in India has seen exceptional growth, reaching Rs 884 crore in the fiscal year 2022-23 with a 2.5x surge over the last three years. Despite this growth, challenges in legal uncertainties and low compliance remain, impacting the income of music creators and limiting their ability to earn a sustainable living from their art.

Spotify gathers its tools for artists in a new ‘Campaign Kit’

 

Spotify has been steadily building its collection of marketing tools for artists: playlist submissions, Marquee, Showcase and the much-discussed Discovery Mode. Now it is gathering them together into an umbrella ‘Campaign Kit’. The aim is to encourage artists and their teams to not just use the tools individually, but also to use them together.
