EVENTS @ IPRS

A month of knowledge-sharing and empowerment

The IPRS in its constant travails to enrich the professional and creative faculties of its members regularly hosts a series of knowledge workshops, outreach programs, and seminars on a plethora of topics. Collaborating with industry experts, organizations, and institutions, these programs offer valuable insights to every participating member and all those aspiring to build a career in music. The months of February and March 2023, as expected, have been thoroughly invigorating and studded with activities for IPRS members, music creators, independent artists, and music publishers across various parts of India.

Learn & Earn the Pan-India IPRS program spread its wings to the musically vibrant region of Bengaluru and the enchanting city of Kochi in Kerala. Authors, Composers, and Music Publishers from the region walked away much wiser about music rights and the latest drifts in the music industry post the event.

Primary themes discussed threadbare at the workshop included copyright in music and the role of copyright societies like IPRS, music licensing, emerging trends, technological advancements, and the importance of metadata in today’s digital era.

Enlivened by the presence of popular author composer members from the regions, IPRS regional ARA committee members, IPRS CEO, and Board members, the event was hailed for its comprehensive and hands-on approach toward empowering the modern creator and music maker.

Continuing with its pan India Member Helpdesk & Enrollment Bootcamp, IPRS hosted the outreach programme “IPRS At Your Doorstep” – an initiative for driving enrollment and addressing member queries on the 16th of February in the Pink City of Jaipur and on the 26th of March 2023 in Ahmedabad. Aimed at reaching out to Lyricists, Music Composers, and Publishers, about the significance of Copyright in music, managing their rights, the role and relevance of IPRS, and the process of enrolling as a member, it was heartening to see the budding talent and independent artists from the region swarming the camp.

IPRS also travelled far east to the city buzzing with musical- virtuosity, talented music creators and independent artists, Dimapur. This was to familiarize them with the nuances of music copyright and the role IPRS plays in safeguarding its members’ right to royalty.

In its tryst at strengthening the music industry of the future, the IPRS held a Music Copyright Workshop in one of India’s premier Film Schools, Whistling Woods, on 10th March. Some of the key topics delved into under the umbrella of the workshop “IPRS for Music Makers”, were Music Copyright and How to manage Data and Rights in the Digital Era.

Never away from the limelight, the IPRS was also associated with the Gujarati Iconic Film Awards (GIFA) and took the opportunity to raise awareness about music copyright and in celebrating the musical talent and creators from the region. The IPRS HelpDdesk at the venue came across as a rallying point for music creators and team IPRS.

These and more such insightful programs will continue to embellish the IPRS event calendar in the coming months.
